Military Asbestos Exposure Asbestos was used on Navy ships for pipe insulation as well as fireproofing, floor tiles and other construction materials. It was also used in ship engines, boilers as well as in aircraft and vehicle brakes, and clutches. Some veterans may have developed mesothelioma or another health issues.
